Today is the 3rd day of the Joint Opposition’s Pada Yathra.
The protest march which commenced from Dharmadhuta Yogasramaya in Utuwankanda yesterday and reached Nelumdeniya will today make its way towards Nittambuwa.
Meanwhile, the Nittambuwa police requested the Attanagalla Magistrate to issue injunction orders on the Joint Opposition and UNP, to cancel their protest march and the membership promotion campaign in the town.
The Warakapola police also sought a similar Court order to prevent the protesters entering the town.
However both Magistrates of Attanagalla and Warakapola dismissed the police requests, citing that political parties have the liberty to engage in their activities democratically.
Meanwhile, Gampaha Chief Magistrate ordered the UNP to conduct its proposed membership promotion campaign after the protest march passed the Kiribathgoda town.
Simultaneously the Magistrate ordered the organizers of the protest by the residents of Rathupaswala to begin their protest after the Joint Oppositions protest march passed the area.
