Protest marches cannot develop a country – says the President
President Maithripala Sirisena stressed the responsibility of public representatives is not to participate in protest marches but to cooperate in building the country.
The President also noted that he would take measures to resolve the issues of the people, while equally developing all districts in the country during his tenure, surpassing the amount of tasks completed by previous regimes.
The president stated this while participating in the inauguration ceremony of a program which would renovate 3100 regional roads in Polonnaruwa today.
170 km of roads covering Polonnaruwa District will be renovated under the Joint Road Development Program.
Expressing his views further, the President noted that it is time to end the conflicts in political arena, instead all politicians and political parties should join hands in building the country.
