Today is the fifth and final day of the Jana Satana Pada Yatra organized by the Joint Opposition.
The march that began from Nittambuwa last morning ended at the Kiribathgoda town.
Accordingly, the march is scheduled to proceed from the Kiribathgoda town this morning and arrive in Colombo.
However so far no definite announcement has been made with regard to the venue where the final rally will be held.
The march began from Peradeniya on the 28th.
Police headquarters said that special security would be deployed today around the city of Colombo and surrounding suburbs.
Special security was also in force as the march passed the Bandaranaike monument yesterday.
The request for security was put forward by former president Chandrika Kumaratunga.
Our reporters said that when the march participants passed the Bandaranaike monument they removed their hats, lowered the flags and walked in silence.
While former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was not present on that occasion, he did join the march in Gampaha on Sunday afternoon.
