An investigation is underway after bones believed to be of human origin were found while digging a well in Thiruketheeswaram area in Mannar for the 3rd consecutive day, the police said.

The exhumation of the site has already been commenced following a court order last Monday, an official said.

The skeletal remains were found close approximation to the mass grave site in Thiruketheeswaram where remains of 96 persons were found five-years- ago, it was reported.

The investigation was triggered after several voluntary organizations filed a petition at the court pointing out that more skeletons could be found from the new site.
