The Joint Opposition says that two million supporters participated in its protest march.
Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated this during a media conference held in Colombo yesterday (02nd).
Elaborating further he noted that they showed red light to the government, stressing the fact that Lipton Circus was flooded with people in great numbers.
He also stated that their protest march was based on 7 key matters, and the government should take action to withdraw these matters.
MP Wimal Weerawansa was also present during the media conference.
Meanwhile, the UPFA General Secretary Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that the total count of participants of its protest march provided by the Joint Opposition has been exaggerated.
Minister Amaraweera stated this in response to questions raised by the reporters during a media conference held at the SLFP headquarters today.
SLFP General Secretary Minister Duminda Dissanayake and state minister Dilan Perera were also present during the meeting.
Meanwhile, a meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and senior SLFP ministers is scheduled to be held this afternoon.
President’s Media Unit stated that the meeting will be held at the President’s Official residence in Colombo.
