The government's amendments to the Value Added Tax (VAT) will further complicate the country's tax policy, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated.
Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters today (03rd), MP Dissanayake said that the new policies will not give relief to the ordinary citizens.
When the VAT legislation is introduced to parliament, the MPs who represent the people and those who do not will be revealed, he pointed out.
The VAT legislation, which was presented to Parliament in July, was challenged at the Supreme Court (SC) later. It is expected to be debated in Parliament this month.
