Parents of Jaffna University’s Sinhalese students meet the President

The administrative authority of the Jaffna University commenced talks with President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon.

According to President’s Media Unit, the meeting is scheduled to be held at the Presidential Secretariat.

The administrative authority including the Vice Chancellor of the Jaffna University, parents of the Sinhalese students of the same university have joined the discussion.

Reports indicated that a clash occurred during a welcome ceremony organized by the Jaffna University’s Science faculty on July 16th.

Following the incident, the parents of the Sinhalese students have complained that their children are facing safety issues.

The parents requested the university’s administrative authority to ensure the safety of their children.

The university’s administrative authority is holding a meeting under the patronage of the President to discuss with regard to this matter as well as the current situation of the university.
