Former Minister of Trade, Johnston Fernando arrived at the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Massive Fraud and corruption this morning.

He was summoned before the Commission to record a statement with regard to the investigations being carried out in connection with importing 60 thousand metric tons of raw rice without Cabinet approval in 2014, causing a loss of 1.5 billion rupees to the government.

The Colombo Medical Research Institute also tested the samples of this stock and revealed that the imported rice variety was not suitable for human consumption.
