3 leading shops in Pettah shutdown over illegal import of textiles

The customs department shut down three textile shops in Pettah, in connection to the illegal importing of textiles.

Raids were conducted in Pettah by a special team deployed from the Customs Department following a tipoff.

It was reported that the team inquired about the purchase documents at these shops.

One of the shop owners had presented a report of the purchase documents to the Finance Ministry yesterday.

The other three shops which failed to provide such reports.
