Health Ministry submits report on the disappearance of Thajudeen’s body parts
An investigation carried out by the Health Ministry reveals that former Colombo Judicial Medial Officer Dr. Ananda Samarasekera has conducted the post mortem of Wasim Thajudeen in an irresponsible manner.
The relevant investigation report has been submitted to Court by Health Ministry Deputy Director General Dr. Lakshmi C. Somathunga yesterday.
The report also said that the former Judicial Medical officer should be held responsible for the misplacement of a few fragaments of Wasim Thajudeen’s remains.
Meanwhile the sergeant attached to the Army Intelligence Unit, who is currently in remand in connection with journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga’s murder, has been further remanded until August 25th.
An identification parade had been scheduled for today, but it was postponed until August 25th as the eye witness, to the incident had reportedly been ill.
In addition, Mt. Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sulochana Weerasinghe permitted the CID to look into the bank accounts of 63 army officers attached to the Army Intelligence Unit, who are connected to the Lasantha Wickrematunga’s murder.
