Sri Lanka’s first ever female bus driver who was arrested with four others over allegations of threatening and berating the National Transport Commission Chairman was released on bail by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris yesterday.
The bus driver, Lakshi Sachintha, and the others were released on a cash bail of Rs. 2,000 and surety bail of Rs. 100,000 each.
The incident has transpired when the chairman failed to grant Sachintha a permit that was promised to her.
