Police have launched investigations to determine whether the two full-face helmets recovered from a stream close to a bridge in Karandeniya, Galle were worn by those who murdered Galle District Cricket Association Chairman Premasiri Halambage.
Three police squads also have been set up for probing the said killing.
Galle District Cricket Association Chairman Premasiri Halambage was killed last Friday night close to his house in Manimulla in Ambalangoda.
Two unidentified gunmen who had come in a motor vehicle while he was traveling in a jeep with his son had shot him and fled.
In an investigation carried out with regard to the incident the two full-face helmets were recovered from a stream close to the Galle – Karandeniya Bridge last afternoon.
The Galle District Cricket Association Chairman’s remains were taken to his home in Manimulla in Ambalangoda last forenoon.
The Galle District Cricket Association Chairman was appointed to the chairman’s post subsequent to the office-bearers’ election held amidst turbulent conditions on 28th last month.
However the Cricket Institute did not acknowledge his chairmanship and had informed by a letter, that the office bearers’ election must be held again on 27th this month.
