Sri Lanka’s national Economic policy will be released in the near future – Prime Minister announces in China
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the government will soon announce the national economic policy of Sri Lanka and the incentives the country expects to offer for foreign investors.
The Premier held discussions with the representatives of the Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Company in China last evening.
Chongqing Company is among the first 100 leading multinational companies in China.
The Chairman of Chongqing Cooperation stated during the discussion that his company would encourage other businessmen in the province to invest in Sri Lanka after the proposed economic policy of the country is announced.
He further said that his company has already shown interest to invest in canned fish, gem and jewellery sectors in the proposed Hambantota industrial zone.
The Premier also noted that foreign investors can approach a wider global market through Sri Lanka, as the island is planning to enter several free trade agreements with various countries in the world.
At the same time, a presentation was made before the visiting Sri Lankan Premier about the development and its challenges of the Mattala International Airport during his inspection tour at a Data Supply Centre in the city last afternoon.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his delegation arrived in Shenzhen city this noon and they will stay in the city for three days.
