Three people were killed and 40 were wounded when a car bomb exploded near a police station in Turkey's eastern province of Van near the Iranian border on Wednesday night, Reutersreported, citing state broadcaster TRT.

Police and ambulances were seen rushing to the scene of the explosion, the report said, citing the privately owned Dogan news agency.

The station also serves as a police barracks,TRT said. It was not immediately clear how many police and civilians were among the dead and wounded.
