The wild elephant nicknamed as Niyapotta that terrorized the residents of Habbegamuwa in Wellawaya, after killing five residents and destroying property, was finally captured by Wildlife officers today.

5 residents in the area including a 9 year old girl have fallen victim to this wild elephant that stands nine feet in height.

The wild jumbo was captured by a team of Wildlife officers led by Veterinarian in charge of the Uva Central Zone W.A. Dharmakeerthi.
