Over 4000 bottles of aerated beverages which was not colour coded according to its sugar content, as instructed by the ministry of health, were found in the market.
These aerated drinks were found following a raid conducted by health inspectors in line with the national food safety week.
Ministry of Health’s food control unit introduced a special law recently, in order to control the sugar content in aerated beverages.
Beverages should be colour coded and clearly visible to the consumer.
Accordingly beverages with high sugar content should be denoted in red, medium sugar content in yellow and beverages low in sugar content in green.
