No Sri Lankans harmed in Myanmar and Italy earthquakes

The Foreign Ministry says that reports have confirmed that no Sri Lankan nationals have been harmed in the recent earth quake that hit Miyanmar.

A Miyanmar embassy spokeswoman told our news team that this had been confirmed in an inquiry made by the embassy.

Several buildings were damaged as a result of the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the town of Bagan yesterday.

Reports say that among these destroyed buildings were 66 Buddhist temples.

Meanwhile it has also been confirmed that no Sri Lankan nationals were injured in the earthquake that took hit Italy.
