The Consumer Affairs Authority has seized a stock of substandard polythene sheets from factories in Ratmalana and Hokandara South.

A total of 900,000 sheets were recovered.

Consumer Affairs Authority officials stated the polythene sheets that were to be used for food wrapping were being manufactured with a thickness less than the regulatory 20 micron.

Investigations revealed that the products have been released to the market under fake trade names.
