Child succumb to his injuries following Karuwalagaswewa elephant attack

The five year old child, who was admitted to Colombo National Hospital, after a wild elephant attacked a van near Mee-Oya Bridge at Karuwalagaswewa on Puttalam - Anuradhapura road, has succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.

Accordingly, two persons died following the incident while eight persons are currently receiving treatment at the Puttalam Hospital.

Another person is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

The van was attacked by a wild elephant, while its passengers were on their way to Katunayake airport.

The passengers were from Canada and Jaffna.

11 persons received injuries after the wild elephant attacked the van and toppled it.

A 39 year old person died at the Puttalam Hospital, while two others were transferred to Colombo National in critical condition.

Currently two women and seven men are receiving treatment at the hospital.
