Chief Minister and Government Minister declare open Ampara Weekly fair, Twice
The weekly fair which belongs to Damana Pradeshiyia Sabha in Ampara which has been used by the vendors for nearly one year, was declared open twice within the course of the day.
The fair was inaugurated today by Minister of Primary Industries Daya Gamage as well as Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister Nazeer Ahamed.
The weekly fair was built under the previous regime after spending a sum of over Rs. 35 million rupees.
Later, the fair was used by the vendors of the area.
Under such circumstances, the Eastern provincial council Chief Minister and the UNP provincial councillors took measures to declare open the weekly fair.
A plaque was also set up stating that the existing weekly fair was declared open under the patronage of the Eastern provincial council Chief Minister.
However, prior the commencement of the ceremony, Minister Daya Gamage, and his wife Deputy Minister Anoma Gamage arrived at the premises with a group of persons.
The organizers warmly welcomed the minister and he has declared open the weekly fair and left prior to the arrival of the Eastern provincial council chief minister.
Later when the Eastern chief Minister and others arrived, the organizers once again covered the plaque with a piece of paper.
According to our correspondent, the Chief Minister inaugurated the weekly fair by removing the piece of paper.
