Current Government also has no interest in erecting missing persons’ monument- Vasudeva Nanayakkara

Democratic Left Front leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara says that the Government had taken no action to re-erect the monument that was removed by the Urban Development Authority during the previous regime.   

The monument was erected by his party in remembrance of persons killed during the war.  

The DLF leader said that the monument had been removed following a directive from the former secretary of the Defence and Urban Development Authority, saying at the time, that it would to be relocated.

The monument had been position close to the Battaramulla junction leading to parliament.

MP Nanayakkara said that the current Government had not taken measures to achieve this.
