Malaysian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka summoned to the Foreign Ministry

Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Malaysia Ibrahim Ansar was assaulted by a group of persons at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, the Sri Lanka government has condemned in the 'strongest terms', the act of violence on the High Commissioner.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia is coordinating with local law enforcement authorities in Malaysia and other relevant local authorities to identify the perpetrators and assist with investigations.

The High Commissioner is receiving medical attention in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva said that the Malaysian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka has been requested to come to the ministry of Foreign Affairs today to inquire about the incident.
