Sri Lankan Airlines has decided to continue random drug testing of its pilots.

According to instructions given by the Sri Lankan Civil Aviation Services Authority it is now compulsory that all Aviation Service pilots undergo the drug test.

Refusing to do so, when on duty could be considered a violation of civil aviation regulations.

The aim of the new initiative is to ensure the quality of service for passengers be upheld in accordance with Advanced Security Standards.

Sri Lankan Airlines said that the safety of passengers was priority and the primary responsibility of the Company.

It was confirmed that the captain attached to the Sri Lankan airlines plane that was scheduled to fly out from Frankfurt on 19th of august, failed the alcohol test that was carried out at the airport.
