Awe-inspiring story of acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi

Tuesday, 13 September 2016 - 11:42

Acid attack survivor Reshma Bano Qureshi recently walked at the New York Fashion Week to increase awareness about acid violence.

Reshma’s face was badly disfigured after her brother-in-law attacked her with acid two years ago. He mistook her for his wife (Reshma’s elder sister).

Reshma became severely depressed after she saw her face in the mirror for the first time, a few weeks after the attack. She disconnected herself from the world and started contemplating suicide.

A meeting with Ria Sharma of the NGO Make Love Not Scars, changed her life. Ria started a crowd-funding campaign to support her medical and legal expenditure. A few months ago, FTL Moda, a New York based fashion production house invited Reshma to walk at the New York Fashion Week.
