Terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) must be removed from the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations, a top lawyer of the European Court of Justice argues.
It was also discussed to remove the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas from the list.
In 2014 an EU court ordered the two terrorist groups to be removed from the list in two separate decisions. However, on “factual imputations derived from the press and the internet” they were not taken off the list.
“The council cannot rely on facts and evidence found in press articles and information from the internet,” Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston has said on Thursday.
