Former LTTE carders at the Anuradhapura prison are continuing their “fast unto death” for the third consecutive day.
They are demanding the government expedite the lawsuit against them.
Prison sources said inmates has launched hunger strikes in eight occasions before this.
Prisons Commissioner and Spokesperson Thushara Upuldeniya said their health conditions have not deteriorated due to the protest. However, he is expecting the inmates’ issue will be resolved through discussions today.
Meanwhile, arrangements are in place to transfer some of the inmates to Jaffna. This is to visit their relatives there.
