Notice has been issued for former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake ordering him to appear before Court on October 19th to serve him indictments.
The notice was issued this morning by Colombo High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardana on 3 counts of charges including preparing forged documents.
The Case has been filed by the Attorney General.
Attanayake has been accused of preparing a forged document intending to prove that there was a secret Pact between the then presidential common candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the then Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Attanayake presented his alleged forged documents to a media conference held in Colombo in December 2014.
Later, the Attorney General filed Action with the High Court on September 9, alleging that Attanayake has committed a punishable offence under the Election Act and the Penal Code.
The three counts of charges made against Attanayake are attempting to influence the election result, creating panic among different communities and preparing forged documents.
The Attorney General pointed out before Court that the actions by the defendant have violated the charter of international civil and political rights.
