Chief Prelate of Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera says that amendments to the ‘Vihara Devalagam Ordinance should not be made, if the Bhikkus and various factions in the society are raising objections against it.

The Chief Prelate of Malwathu Chapter stated this to Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijedasa Rajapaksa, when he paid a courtesy call to the Maha Nayaka Thera.

The Minister has also expressed his views with regard to the constitutional reforms to the Maha Nayaka Thera.

He further noted that he is prepared to discuss the matter with all relevant factions including the Bhikkus, prior to making amendments to the Vihara Devalagam Ordinance.
