Upcountry estate workers engaged in protests today, demanding the authorities to increase their daily wage to 1000 rupees.

Our correspondents reported that estate laborers in Ragala, Kotagala,Watawala and Kandapola participated in protests this morning.

Estate workers have been protesting since September 24th demanding the pay increase.

Protestors in Kandapola said that they will continue to protest if the authorities do not take action to increase their daily wage.

The Badulla- Colombo road was blocked by the protesters in Haputale town.
