The protest launched by estate workers demanding authorities to increase their daily wage upto 1000 rupees, continues today for the 12th day.

However, minister of Labor W.D.J. Seneviratne stated in a media conference today that the estate labor’s demands cannot be met.

Workers in several estates launched a protest on September 24, demanding a daily wage of 1000 rupees.

Meanwhile, protests caused traffic congestion along the Colombo Ratnapura road in Eheliyagoda this morning.

The Estate worker wage crisis was discussed in parliament yesterday.
