National Hurricane Center website is offline
The website for the National Hurricane Center is down.
It's unclear if the site was down due to overwhelming web traffic as Hurricane Matthew hit Florida Thursday evening.
NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) operates the website, which provides the latest advisories for hurricanes.
The powerful Category 4 storm jogged slightly east but is bearing down on the Treasure Coast.
An estimated 55,000 people across the state of Florida are without power as a result of the powerful storm.
According to the 11 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, the new track for Hurricane Matthew --- shows the storm's eye move to the northwest into Martin and St. Lucie Counties.
