Delay of local government polls raised in parliament today again

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said in parliament today that Sri Lanka does not intend on withdrawing from nor boycotting the SAARC summit to be held in Pakistan. 

Minister Samaraweera said this while making a statement to announce Sri Lanka’s stand with regard to the 19thSAARC Summit to be held in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, MP Dinesh Gunawardana questioned about the date that local government polls are to be held, in parliament today as well.

Answering the MP, leader of the house minister Lakshman Kiriella said that the anticipation of the UNP is to have the local government polls as soon as possible.

Simultaneously, a dialogue was also held about the issues relating to the delimitation of wards.  At that juncture, speaker Karu Jayasuriya intervened to respond to the matter.
