Joint Opposition commences rally at a lorry park, after losing Seevali grounds
‘Aragalayata Pana Povana Nawa Janatha Balawegaya’ (the new peoples’ movement tempering the struggle), an initiative organized by the Opposition commenced in Ratnapura this evening.
The organizers took measures to conduct the rally in a lorry park after an issue arose in reserving the Rathnapura Seevali Grounds.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and many party leaders representing the joint opposition graced the event.
Our reporters at the venue stated that many SLFP MPs and local government representatives supporting the joint opposition also participated in the rally.
Speaking at the rally, Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama stated that there will be a political change in the country by January.
Former Minister Basil Rajapakse and MP Prasanna Ranatunga also addressed the gathering.
