Investigations to determine if fish caught from Kalpitiya are contaminated with dynamite

It has been decided to inquire in to whether dynamite is found in fish that were caught from Chillaw and Kalpitiya areas.

Accordingly the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources stated that fish sold in those areas will be tested today.

Meanwhile, following recent protests in the area against the use of illegal fishing gear a proposal is to be presented to Parliament to ban the use of Laila Hambili fishing nets.
