New regulations will be imposed on transportation of sand, granite, earth and gravel from the 1st of November.

Accordingly, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau noted that transportation of these minerals during day time will be restricted.

In addition, consent will be granted to transport sand, earth, gravel and granite within a district during day time, however, consent will be granted to transport the minerals outside a district only during night time.

Complaints have been lodged with Geological Survey and Mines Bureau with regard to illegal mining of these minerals.

Furthermore, reports indicated that transportation of minerals have caused several issues including dilapidated roads, traffic congestion, and motor accidents.

The President has directed the relevant authorities to probe into the matter and take necessary steps.

Accordingly, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau has decided to allow transportation of minerals within a district during day time, while transportation of minerals outside a district will be allowed only during night time.
