Northern Provincial governor says Army is not behind AAVA gang
Provincial Governor of the North, Reginald Corey says that the army does not assist Aavaa gang which is currently being operated in the North.
He stated this during a media conference held at the provincial governors sub office in Battaramulla today.
Law and order minister Sagala Rathnayake told in parliament recently that an armed group is in operation in the North follwing the death of two university students of Jaffna University.
Later, Joint Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Senarathna told journalists during a media conference to inform Cabinet decisions that Aavaa group was set up with the blessings of former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
However, former Defence Secretary rejected the allegations made by Minister Rajitha Senarathna during a media conference yesterday.
He said that minister Senarathna is making irresponsible statements and humiliating the army.
The incident took new turns today after Health Minister Rajitha Senarathna issued a communiqué which reaffirmed that Aavaa group was set up with the blessings of former Defence Secretary.
He also vowed to disclose all information with regard to Aavaa group in the cause of time.
