A dispute in Habaraduwa leaves 5 including 2 policemen injured
An assault on a chief prelate of a temple caused unrest in the Meepe area in Habaraduwa last night.
The chief prelate of Meepe Sri Sudarshanarama temple was attacked by a resident of the area when the chief prelate attempted to resolve an incident that has taken place during a Katina ceremony held on Thursday.
Subsequent to the attack, the assailant and two others were assaulted by villagers and were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
Teams from Habaraduwa, Ahangama, Galle Harbour and Galle Police stations have been called upon to control the situation.
A spokesperson of the Habaraduwa Hospital stated that two police officers of the Habaraduwa Police who also sustained injuries were discharged upon treatment.
