Two persons, including a police sub-inspector, was arrested yesterday in connection to the theft of Rs. 35 million worth of gold jewelry from a shop owned by an Indian in Pettah.
The duo was arrested while hiding in a house in Galenbidunuwewa, following a tip-off.
The theft took place on the 17th of September. They have entered the shop stating that they were attached to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
