3 suspects from AAVA group remanded
3 suspects believed to be members of the Aavaa group were remanded today by the Colombo Additional magistrate until November 10th.
The suspects were arrested in a joint operation by the Terrorist Investigation Unit and Jaffna police following several violent incidents taken place in Jaffna recently.
Investigations revealed that the suspects in custody are affiliated to the notorious Aavaa group.
Meanwhile, a discussion on the prevailing situation in the North was held at the Governor’s office today.
Northern Governor Reginald Corey, all District Secretaries in the province, senior public officials, tri force officers and police officers participated in the discussion.
The Governor has instructed authorities to start search operations in the areas where robber groups are currently active.
It has been decided to deploy additional troops in such areas as well.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy has been informed to deploy troops in vulnerable areas along the coast where drug traffickers enter the island.
