24 fatalities in 2 weeks as a result of train accidents

Twenty-four persons have died in train accidents in the last two weeks. 

Railway Security Director Anura Premarathna said the number of deaths this year is higher when compared to the same time frame last year.

Besides committing suicide by jumping before moving trains, others died from reckless crossing on railway tracks.

Railway Security Director Anura Premarathna said that nearly 700 persons die annually in train accidents.
