Carcass of a giant sea lion has washed ashore in Mannar. Officials attached to the Sri Lanka Navy at Mannar camp have found the decaying body.

The sea lion weighs around 450-500 kilos, they say.

It is believed that the animal has died from explosives used for fishing.

Wildlife officials in Vavuniya will commence an inquiry into the body tomorrow.
