Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake says that a long term development oriented budget to fulfill the aspirations of all people will be presented to parliament today at 2.00pm.
The theme of Budget 2017 is “A budget for rapid development with benefits to all”.
It is the 70th budget of Independence Sri Lanka and the third budget by the National Unity Government.
The Finance Ministry has received nearly 2500 public proposals to be considered for the budget.
Budget 2017 has focused on finding solutions to issues of several sectors in the economy including unemployment, cost of living, investment promotion, education, health and agricultural issues.
Speaking to our news team, Minister Karunanayake said that he expects to present a people’s friendly budget this time.
