A research group attached to the Agricultural Engineering Faculty of Ruhuna University has discovered that diesel could be produced by using algae and coconut scraps.

The researchers stated that the new product looks similar to diesel and its burning capacity is equivalent to ordinary diesel.

Senior lecturer of the research group Chintha Rupasinghe stated the new product could be used as fuel for vehicles as well.
