Religious leaders complain that children have been used to beg and get involved in the hawker trade in the sacred area limit of Kataragama.

They complained that certain children avoid going to school and are engaged in trading activities while others do part time trading in the sacred area after school.

When our news team contacted the Kataragama police, a senior officer stated that poverty of many families in the area face has driven them to engage in trade to support their family budget.
