Turbulence in the Bay of Bengal; Strong winds and heavy showers in several areas
The met department states under the influence of the atmospheric disturbance in the Bay of Bengal to the southeast of Sri Lanka, cloudy skies and heavy showers are expected to enhance during next few days, particularly in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western, Eastern and Uva provinces.
Heavy falls about 100 mili meters can be expected at some places, particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces.
Due to the active cloudiness in the Southern sea areas, the possibility of heavy showers and sudden roughness of the sea areas associated with sudden increase of wind speed up to 70 to 80 kilo meters per hour over the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Galle via Pottuvil and Hambantota.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant.
