Bus strike in the South to continue; Stones hurled at some buses which operated

The strike launched by private bus operators in the Southern Province continues to be in place.

Although some buses commenced operating today stones had been hurled at them in Aluthgama, Boossa and Rathgama areas.

The strike was launched against increasing the minimum traffic fine to 2500 Rupees.

Chairman of the Matara Passenger Transport Association Aruna Halpage said that due these attacks, they have once again refrained from services.
