A Singapore court has handed down a one year prison sentence to a Sri Lankan who attempted to fly to New Zealand using a fake passport.

He was arrested by immigration and emigration officers in Singapore in September 08.

It was reported that the suspect used a fake passport to travel to New Zealand through Singapore after arriving in India.
