The Government Medical Officers Association is preparing to resort to trade union action against the budget cuts affecting health and education sectors.

Secretary of the GMOA Doctor Naveen De Soyza said that they would conduct protests in front of hospitals tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Nurses Unions are also conducting discussions to enter in to a strike action over the steps taken through a circular issued by the Ministry of Health.

Chairman of the All Island Health Services Union Gamini Kumarasinghe stated that the circular had cancelled back wages due to nurses since 2003.
