Relatives call authorities to aid the nine sailors held in Yemen

Relatives of the nine Sri Lankans held by Yemeni government urge authorities to intervene and immediately repatriate them.

The Sri Lankans were taken into Yemen custody while they were sailing, due to a financial dispute between the owner of the ship and those who rented it, about two months ago.

It is reported that 26 people are onboard of the Greek ship Sheyar Avalon.

The Examiner of at Merchant Shipping Secretariat Capt. J. M. Sunil said they are discussing with the Foreign Affairs Ministry to free the Sri Lankans.
