Probe the disappearance of 4000 million rupees; Joint Opposition asks the Government

The Joint Opposition requests the Government to probe immediately the reports published about the disappearance of 4012 million rupees the Government Treasury had provided for implementing the Nilwala Project during the former regime.

MP Dullas Alahapperuma representing the joint opposition issuing a communiqué said that what happened to the funds allocated for the Nilwala Valley People was a then Irrigation Minister’s and Irrigation Secretary’s primary responsibility.

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva served as the Irrigation Minister then.

The letter MP Dullas Alahapperuma has released states that Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and the Ministry’s Chief Accountant should accept the responsibility for the disappearance.

Similarly MP Dullas Alahapperuma has also inquired about this from former President and MP Mahinda Rajapaksa currently visiting China.

On this occasion the former President had told the MP to ask the Government to probe the matter immediately.
